Our Ohio State Parks are full of natural wonders and sometimes we see incredible wildlife like this bobcat! These cats are very elusive and are nocturnal so it's rare to see one in the wild. Our naturalist at Lake Hope State Park captured footage of one wandering around the park last week. These usually solitary creatures only interact with others during mating season. Have you ever seen a butterfly pool party?! 🦋 🎉 These eastern swallowtail butterflies at Lake Hope State Park are mud-puddling. They (primarily males) do this to ingest salts and amino acids to boost fertility. The extra nourishment will be passed to the female to ensure egg survival.
