If they are standing up they will usually fall, often backwards and could potentially injure the back of their head. Tonic seizures are generally very brief and will happen without any warning. Friday night Archie had an overnight stay at the hospital for an extended EEG. For the last few months I’ve noticed some weird jerking that Archie had been doing so I pushed to have them check. I didn’t know if it was a new thing with his dystonia or if it was a seizure. Turns out it is a seizure unfortunately. It’s called a tonic seizure, it’s a quick jerking motion and stiffness. So Archie has been having Tonic seizures since around or before August 2025. We don’t exactly know when but we know we noticed them around October time. We had him go in in November for an extended EEG and unfortunately they were tonic seizures. He had already been on seizure meds so we raised them and eventually decided to switch him to a different one. Neither med change affected his seizures in a positive or negative way.
