T. E. Lawrence, well known as Lawrence Of Arabia, was born on 16 August 1888. Infamous for his scruffy appearance in the British Khaki uniform, Lawrence took on quite a different guise after his friend King Faisal of Iraq suggested wearing his set of Arab wedding clothes. The basic Arab male dress is a long, white shirt called a thob, sometimes embroidered at the neck, over which wealthy men wear a second robe, called a zebun.
