Support blending by practising reading words with 2 sounds. If your child is struggling to blend (they cannot put sounds together to read the word), then practise first with words with 2 sounds. Get your child to say the two sounds, and then blend the sound into the word. If they struggle with this, model it for them: i-n = in. If they still find this difficult, practice lots of oral blending first. Naturally when they get confident at this, you can move to reading CVC words with the sounds that
