When people in B.C. use fire to clear debris from their property, a category 2 fire is usually enough to do the job. Category 2 fire allows you to have up to two fires burning at the same time, and the fires can be up to two metres high by three metres wide. In cases where multiple or larger fires are required, those conducting the burn must register their plan and take extra steps to make it safe. The 2023 wildfire season has been long and challenging. The BC Wildfire Service is currently responding to the Mulvey Creek wildfire (N51278), located approximately 4.5 kilometres from the Village of Slocan in the southern end of Valhalla Park.
